1st Assistant Superintendent — Panorama Golf Club (Panorama Village)

Panorama Golf Club is a semi-private 27 hole golf facility located in the Conroe area.  The golf course will go through a large scale renovation on all 27 holes over the next three years.  The renovation will start in May 2017 with the goal to complete 9 holes and open by September.  The following two years will most likely be a similar schedule to complete all 27 holes.  Renovation will include irrigation, bunkers, greens, tees, and fairways.  When finished the course will feature Champion ultra-dwarf greens and Celebration Bermudagrass playing surfaces.  This position will assist the Superintendent in managing the maintenance staff, schedule maintenance on the course, fertilizer and chemical applications and some budget and capital expense planning.  Ability to multitask and be team player with the staff is a must.  The club is managed by Sterling Golf and with there ever increasing portfolio of courses, there will be opportunities for advancement within the company for motivated individuals.  Great opportunity for recent graduate to experience course renovations and exciting property improvements.

Looking for an individual who seeks experience in becoming a successful Golf Course Superintendent while having an excellent attitude, and consistently going above and beyond the expectations of our members and their guests.  Required to be a leader in the department and have an extensive eye for detail.  The Assistant will be expected to efficiently manage and work with a 10+ man crew and current Foreman.  Prior Internship or Assistant experience preferred.  Prior experience working on a golf course is a must.

Golf Course Assistant Maintenance Manager — Travis B. Bryan Municipal Golf Course (Bryan)

The City of Bryan is seeking qualified candidates for Golf Course Assistant Maintenance Manager for the Travis B. Bryan Municipal Golf Course. This position provides support and assistance to the Golf Course Maintenance Manager in the maintenance of the entire golf course complex and performs supervision of the maintenance workers to ensure the best possible playing conditions and surroundings.
Responsibilities include:
 Supervises seasonal golf course maintenance workers.
 Assists the Golf Course Maintenance Manager with the planning, coordinating, directing and scheduling of projects (i.e. turf maintenance, mowing, aeration, and fertilization).
 Analyzes disease, insect and other turfgrass stress problems. Recommends appropriate fungicides, insecticides, fertilizers, and other measures to resolve problems and assists with chemical application.
 Responds to inquiries and complaints from the public; follows up with appropriate course of action.
 Inspects equipment, facilities, and grounds; checks for safety hazards, diagnoses problems and helps determine need for maintenance and repair; provides on-going assessment of operations and recommends improvements.
 Maintains golf course irrigation systems.
 Assists with repair and maintenance of mechanical and motorized equipment.
 Performs routine tasks, e.g. aerate course, mow, overseed turf, fertilize course, etc.
 Operates City-owned golf cart and radio/telephone.
 Performs related duties as required.
Strong candidates should possess the following:
 High School Diploma/GED plus at least 5 years of work experience related to golf course maintenance, turf maintenance or similar work experience; OR an Associate’s degree plus at least 3 years work experience related to golf course maintenance, turf maintenance or similar work experience. Other equivalent combinations of related education, experience and training may also be considered.
 Some previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.

Athletic Field Specialist I — City of Farmers Branch

The purpose of this position is to prepare and maintain athletic fields and
related facilities for league and tournament play and to work various special
events in a support capacity.
The City of Farmers Branch will conduct ongoing screenings of
applications on a first come, first serve basis. As soon as we
determine to have a qualified pool of applicants, this position may
close quickly and without notice after a three business day
minimum posting.
Performs athletic field preparation and maintenance activities, determines
size and layout of various fields, mows, trims, and addresses weed issues to
ensure proper playability. Inspects field lights, scoreboards, and irrigation
systems making needed repairs and/or reporting details to supervisor.
Manicures base paths and infield arcs to provide safe transition areas
between clay and turf, sods damaged areas, and installs/removes soccer
goals as needed. Utilizes a weekly schedule to guide activities on softball,
baseball, soccer, football, and other fields as directed.
Performs grounds maintenance activities utilizing various pieces of light to
heavy equipment to perform routine and indepth
maintenance projects
related to athletic fields, common areas, and rightsofway.
Cuts lines in
turf, paints fields, topdresses, fertilizes, overseeds
fields, applies pesticides
as needed, utilizes various pieces of specialized equipment to perform a
variety of tasks, and inspects fields in accordance with a maintenance
program. Conducts safety inspections on all athletic facilities, buildings,
restrooms, and equipment, making repairs and/or reporting details to
supervisor. Provides litter control and cleans restrooms frequently.
Provides support for special events and fulfills and additional duties as
assigned. May require frequent overtime in support of special events and
athletic tournaments.
Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational,
technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years
of high school or equivalent.
Over one year experience (3 years preferred) directly related athletic field
maintenance is required.
Licenses and Certificates
Valid Class “C” driver’s license with a good driving record and ability to
maintain while employed.
Special Requirements
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays, as
needed, to support numerous athletic tournaments and special events.

As a condition of passing a six month probationary period, the applicant
must acquire and maintain a valid Class “B” Commercial Driver License
(CDL) within six months of hire; and,
a Class “B” commercial driver’s license within six months of hire;
TDA Noncommercial
pesticide applicator license within six months of
hire. The process includes applying for and successfully passing the
General and Laws and Regulations exam, and the 3A Landscape
Maintenance category exam
Upon successful completion of probation, additional support and
encouragement will be given toward achieving the Certified Professional Turf
Manager (CPTM) certification from the Texas Turfgrass Association.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Work is generally directed by the Athletic Field Specialist II, but requires the
occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or
temporary employees.
In the absence of the Athletic Field Specialist II, this position serves as a
working supervisor and leads the Athletic Field Crew. In this position, the
Athletic Field Specialist I may be responsible for daily and/or tournament
operations including communicating clearly with coworkers,
other City staff,
and/or tournament officials. The ability to verbally communicate clearly in
English is essential.
Work requires regular interaction involving exchange and receipt of
information and receives immediate direction. This position normally
performs the duty assignment after receiving detailed instructions as to
methods, procedures, and desired end results with little room for deviation.
The immediate supervisor may, at times, provide close and constant review.
Advanced work requires advanced skills and knowledge in approaches and
systems, which affect the design and implementation of major programs
and/or processes organizationwide.
Independent judgement and decisionmaking
abilities are necessary to apply technical skills effectively.
Intermediate ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, and
dictionaries. Intermediate ability to deal with system of real numbers;
practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and
measurement. Basic ability to write simple sentences containing subject,
verb, and object, and/or a series of numbers, names, and addresses.
Working Conditions:
Work involves extreme exposure to disagreeable elements; noise and
smoke fumes. Involves continuous outdoor work with frequent exposure to
poor weather conditions; heat, cold, rain, wind, etc. Continuous physical
exertion including frequent lifting of heavy objects weighing 50 lbs. and
requiring heavy muscular effort with resulting fatigue in arms, legs, back,
and/or sensory faculties.
