Parks Technician 1, Landscape — The Woodlands Township

 

Salary Range

$12.16/hour

Description

Under the immediate supervision of a Parks Supervisor, Foreman or a Crew leader perform skilled and semi-skilled work related to maintenance and renovation of parks and recreation facilities, grounds, pathways, and landscape. Perform duties in support of development and maintenance of parks, pools, grounds, restrooms and sport fields e.g., mowing, edging, fertilizing grass; pruning, planting, and/ or removing weeds, trees and shrubs; clearing right-of-way areas and drainage with appropriate equipment. Paint, repair and refurbish fixtures, signs, equipment and other miscellaneous items as needed. Gather and dispose of debris and dead animals

Qualifications

Operate and maintain lawn mowers, lawn edger’s, brush/tree trimmers and chippers, air compressors, backhoes, farm tractors, vehicles up to 26000 GVWR, various hand and job related power tools.

Participates in emergency response teams .Entry level knowledge to concrete, minor carpentry work, and landscape installation and maintenance are a plus. Must have a valid driver’s license and meet the driver safety policy requirements.

First Assistant Superintendent — The Woodlands Country Club (Gary Player Course)

 

The Woodlands Country Club’s Player course is seeking a First Assistant Superintendent.  The Player Course is one of three facilities that comprise The Woodlands Country Club. The 18 Hole Player Course consists of Tif-Eagle greens, 419 fairways and roughs, and a combination of 419 and zoysia tees with Toro LTC Plus irrigation system.

We are looking for a dedicated individual with a desire to become a Golf Course Superintendent to join our team. Strong leadership, work ethic, and attention to detail are important traits we are looking for in the right candidate. The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for assisting the Superintendent in the operating functions of the Golf Course Maintenance Department to ensure the healthy growth of the golf course & Clubhouse Grounds grasses, trees, wetlands, and other plant materials. The duties include turfgrass/plant material maintenance programs, property/asset management, assisting with forecasting and expense management, scheduling and maintenance of irrigation systems, pesticide applications, related recordings, and compliance of regulatory issues as directed by the Superintendent. The Assistant Superintendent will participate in the hiring, training and developing all staff, including ensuring the staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions.

Education: 2 or 4 year degree from accredited program

Experience: 1-2 years as Assistant or successfully completed quality internships

Salary: Hourly $14-16 plus depending on experience, 45-50 plus hours a week

1st Assistant Golf Course Superintendent — Shadow Hawk Golf Club & Black Hawk Country Club (Houston)

 

Shadow Hawk Golf Club was established in 1999 as an exclusive 18-hole Championship golf club by architect Rees Jones. The course was formed in a Pecan tree orchard and has transformed into one of the best layouts in the Greater Houston Area. The greens were recently converted in 2015 to Miniverde. The tee boxes, fairways and rough remain Tifway 419.

 Black Hawk Country Club was designed by internationally acclaimed golf course designer and re-designer, Rees Jones (http://www NULL.reesjonesinc NULL.com/).  With more than 7,100 yards of pristine play and five sets of tees, the golf course challenges golfers of all levels. The golf course engages approximately 50 acres of lakes and waterways along with 43 bunkers. Fairways of 419 Tif-way Bermuda and Tif-eagle greens are meticulously maintained for championship golf course conditions year round.

Black Hawk Country Club proudly hosted the 2006 Nationwide Tour Championship and LPGA Tour Championship presented by Rolex in November 2009. Along with Shadow Hawk Golf Club, Black Hawk Country Club co-hosted the 2011 U.S. Mid Amateur Championship  (http://www NULL.usga NULL.org/ChampEventSite NULL.aspx?id=17179869327)that took place September 15-22, 2011.

 Requirements:

  • 2-4 year degree in Turfgrass Management or related field
  • Three to five years of relevant golf course maintenance experience
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Must be hands on; self-motivated
  • Ability to obtain Texas Pesticide Applicator license within 90 days of employment

 Job Description:

Compensation:

  • $42,000 – $50,000
